District Chorus Auditions

You must learn two pieces for the PMEA District Chorus Auditions. They are Mendelssohn’s “He, Watching Over Israel” and Scarlatti’s “Exsultate Deo.” For both pieces, you must be able to sing your voice part a cappella, with accurate pitches and rhythms, excellent vocal tone, and accurate dynamics and articulation.

The audition also includes sight-reading.

Here are pdf’s of the music, resources for the Mendelssohn and Scarlatti, more resources for the Mendelssohn, and more for the Scarlatti. Here are some sight-singing practice resources.

Auditions at CHS are Monday, November 7, 3:00-5:30 pm. In order to audition at CHS, you must sign up here.

Those who are selected from CHS auditions will attend official District Chorus Auditions Saturday, November 19, at Upper Merion High School. A bus will leave school at 7:30 am and return around 1:00 pm.

Optional workshops to help you prepare for the district auditions are Monday, October 31, Tuesday, Nov 1, Thursday, Nov 3, and Friday, Nov 4, from 3:00-4:00. Feel free to join for all or part of any workshop.
